THE STORY OF...TRIP THE LIGHT

I was taking guitar lessons with Roger Scannura at York University. After many years of performing and no CD to show for it, Roger was the one who encouraged me to get over myself and just record already.

He introduced me to CBC Radio's Laurence Stevenson, and together, they dragged me into a studio high above the city in the CBC tower. We recorded four songs live to tape in an evening.

Laurence gave me 100 empty CD cases that we pilaged from the recycling bin at the CBC and let me use the station's industrial CD burner to make 100 copies of the recording. My talented designer friend Tiffany Warkentin helped me format the graphics and we headed to the Keele Copy Centre to print them up. Tiffany painstakingly cut out each page with an Exacto knife while I assembled each disc by hand.

This limited run recording is now sold out. I gave the last copy to the National Library of Canada (it's the law!).
